David Joseph Surline, age 47, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 surrounded by his family. David, to those that knew him from childhood; Dave, Dad, 88, Pork Chop, Sunshine or Playzwithpoo to the rest of us. Dave had an incredible sense of humor and unmatched work ethic. He married Sarah, the love of his life, on September 27, 1997. Together they raised two beautiful humans, Josh and Jess Surline. Dave was a man that loved well, smiled often, and made others laugh with his quick wit and humor. His generosity was a hallmark of his character, as he was always willing to give a hand, offer a tool, provide a need of service, or simply show up.
While cancer took his strength and ultimately his life, it could never diminish his faith, his spirit, or his humor. On January 12, 2024, Dave lost his battle here on earth, but he joined his Lord and Savior and his sister, Sherry in heaven. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dave is grieved by his wife and children; his parents David G. Surline, Wanda and Dave Bazzett; his brother, Matthew (RaeAn); his in-laws Randy and Sue Lantz; and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:00pm, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd, Lansing, MI 48911. The family will receive friends at 2:00pm, and a luncheon will follow the service at 4:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the family’s GoFundMe account.
