Dr. David James Sayer of Lansing, MI died peacefully in his home on June 11, 2023 at the age of 77.
David was born in Ogdensburg, NY, on February 12, 1946. He served in the US Navy and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He married Jeanne (Derganz) in Davenport, IA, in 1969. After completing his Chiropractic degree, he moved to Holt, MI, to begin his practice in 1972 with his young family. The family grew and moved to Lansing in 1977, where he lived the rest of his life. Dr. Sayer practiced in Holt until moving his practice to Lansing’s south side in 1998.
During his life, David held many roles, including Chiropractor, small-business owner, school board Chairman, Church Elder (Trinity Church), prayer warrior, spiritual leader, and mentor. His most important role was that of child and servant of God, followed by his devotion to his wife, children, 34 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
David is survived by Jeanne, his beloved wife of 54 years as well as sons: James (Lisa), Jonathan (Cathy), and Adam (Jennifer); daughters: Beth Monroe (Edward), Jessica Berry (Brad), Rebekah Schafer (Nathan), and Rachel DePauw (Chris); and sister, Janice Gatons.
A celebration of Dr. Sayer’s life will be held on Friday, June 23 at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd, in Lansing. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with the Memorial Service at 11:00am and lunch to follow.
