Gospel

There are few words more central to what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ than the word “Gospel.”  Since the first century, Jesus and the early church and now those of us who have come after are continually talking about “The Gospel.”  But have you noticed that often, when we do so, we can tell that we don’t always all mean the same thing?  Why is that?  When Jesus talked about the Gospel, he was talking about “The Good News of the Kingdom of God” that was supposed to reach into every area of life and experience.  It related directly to the “here and now” of Jesus’ first hearers and for us today, and also to the “there and then” of what happens after we die and enter eternity.  This week, we’ll talk about “The Gospel,” and about how often, even for those of us who are followers of Jesus, often It’s Not What You Think.
